First you sit. Then you GO. That’s the excitement of the Sit n’ Go, quite literally. A place where the tournament is fast, the fun is big and the prizes are larger than life, Sit n’ Gos offer all the thrills of a normal poker tournament with the convenience of speed — and each game is like you’ve reached the final table. So sit down, and let’s go!
WHAT IS A SIT’N’GO?
Glad you asked. As the name suggests, as soon as you’re registered and “sit” at the table, and the right amount of players have also registered, it’s time to “go” in this faster-style tournament. A single-table tournament, gameplay starts as soon as the seats are full. Games can be played by either two, three, six, nine, 12 or 18 players and are determined by the game you choose.
For example, if you choose and register to play a six-player Sit n’ Go, once six players have registered (including you!), the game will commence. Likewise, if you’ve registered for an 18-player game, once 18 players in total have registered, it’s time to roll — and so on and so forth.
HOW SIT N’ GOS WORK
- Sign up, sit down, get ready to go: Once you’ve registered and all the seats are filled, the tournament starts, and it’s time to rock ‘n’ roll.
- Play format: SNGs are often structured as either No-Limit Hold’em or other popular poker variants like: PLO, PLO8 and Crazy Pineapple.
- Prize pool: The prize pool is fixed, consistent and determined by the buy-in amount and the number of players, and you’ll know what you can expect in terms of potential winnings. For example, in a nine-player Sit n’ Go, usually the top three players receive payouts based on a percentage of their total buy-in. Opting to jump straight into a heads-up two-person game instead? The winner in these games takes home the entire prize pool!
- Payout structure: Sit n’ Go usually pays out in a tiered structure. For example, the first, second and third positions might receive 50%, 30%, and 20% of the prize pool, respectively, in a nine-player Sit n’ Go.
- Jumpstart Sit n’ Go: Perfect for a newbie on the poker scene, Jumpstart Sit n’ Gos are great for beginners as they’re easier to get paid, being split among the top three players instead of just two.
