Today we find out a little about one of our fantastic GP players.
DAVID “UNSUB” R.
“Unsub” with his GOAT II trophy. This was the second season of The GOAT, but the first occasion the revised trophy was out in the wild.
1. Where do you live?
2. Who’s your sports team?
3. How long have you been playing poker and what’s your earliest or fondest poker memory?
I've been playing since childhood with my family, but as a serious student of the game, since 1999. My earliest poker memory is as a toddler sitting in my grandmother's lap "helping" her as she taught me the rules of the game around the kitchen table during family game night.
4. How long have you been playing on Global Poker?
I started playing on Global January 2017.
5. How did you hear about Global Poker?
From a poker playing friend, thanks Brian and rest in peace my friend!
6. What’s your biggest win, either on Global Poker, or in live play?
My biggest win on Global Poker is SC4844 for winning the Sunday Teaser. My biggest live tournament score was $9700. My biggest live cash game win is $5500.
7. Tell us about your worst poker moment.
Getting 2 outed for a WSOP Main Event seat in 2003 sticks out.
8. What’s your worst bad beat story?
Might as well share from the above. I played a 2 table step satty to the WSOP 10K Main Event at Binion’s Horseshoe. I had been there playing cash one week night and they were calling an open seat to start a 10 handed sit and go round 1... it was $120 and they ran all week long. The winner would return on Saturday to play 9 other round 1 winners for a 10K seat. I jumped in and won, so I returned Saturday to round 2. From 5 handed, one player went on a heater and eliminated 5th, 4th, and 3rd place, leaving me heads up with him and about a 3-1 chip deficit for me. I clawed and fought my way back to a very slight chip lead. Then I raised my SB button with AT and he called. The flop came AT3. He checked, I continuation bet, and he made a massive check/raise all in. I called and he tabled pocket 6's, he'd just tilted at losing the chip lead and lost his mind. I was 2 cards away from playing the main event... but the river was a 6 leaving me crippled down to 1 big blind.
9. When you’re not playing poker, what’s your passion?
Poker really is my passion, I love both studying and playing it. When I'm not doing poker I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and watching movies/binging shows.
10. If you could rename a GP tournament, which tournament would it be, what would you call it and why?
Global does a fine job with their tournament naming conventions, but if I have an idea in the future I'll be sure to pass it along.
Thanks, “Unsub,” we love what you do on Global Poker, and look forward to seeing you at the tables soon!
